A fast impact.
A controlled cut.

High-speed impact cutting separates metallic materials through rapid shearing and local adiabatic softening within the shear zone.

How impact cutting works.

01 /

Feed and position

The material is fed to the set cut length and held in position before cutting.

02 /

Cut at high speed

A fast impact drives the cutting process. Deformation is concentrated in a narrow shear zone where the material separates.

03 /

Discharge and repeat

The cut component is discharged and the cycle repeats. Feeding and tooling are configured for the part and production rate.

Benefits that matter in production.

Cut components and profiles
Cut components and profiles

Cut quality and capacity depend on material, dimensions, tooling and settings. Your application is our starting point.

01

No saw kerf

No strip of material is sawn away between consecutive pieces, making effective use of the material.

02

Less finishing

Clean cut surfaces and limited burr formation can reduce subsequent machining. Results depend on the material.

03

No cutting fluid

The cutting process itself does not require cutting fluid, simplifying handling of the cut components.

04

Designed for series

Automatic feeding and a fast cutting process suit repeated production of the same component.

Questions about the technology

What is adiabatic softening?

During very rapid deformation, much of the heat generated cannot dissipate from the shear zone within the duration of the process. This local heating can reduce resistance to further shearing. The workpiece does not require a separate preheating process.

Can all materials and sizes be cut?

Suitability needs to be assessed for the material grade, condition, dimensions and cut length. Send us a drawing and material specification so we can review the requirements.

Is the process completely waste-free?

There is no saw kerf between pieces. Start pieces, bar ends and rejected components can still occur in production.

What tolerance can be achieved?

A length tolerance within 0.01 mm can be achieved depending on material, dimensions and machine configuration. We establish the performance for your application.
